Apple dominates the semiconductor supply chain

Apple Inc. is expected to buy nearly $28 billion worth of semiconductors in 2012, up 15 percent from the $24 billion it spent in 2011, according to IHS iSuppli. Growing faster and outspending No. 2 chip buyer Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., expected to spend about $14.9 billion on chips this year, up from $14.8 billion last year.
